Teaching Video - Pottery and Sculpture ( Price £15.00 )

image of finished sculpture The sculpture is a scene from the pottery industry in the 19th century. It shows a pottery worker handing a plate to a paintress for decoration. This job was often done by children at that time.

The background was designed and made by the children following a visit to the Gladstone Pottery Museum near Stoke on Trent, where the pottery industry was first established.

A Primary School Residency by Angela Munslow

With a degree in Chemistry and a B.Ed Hons degree in Physical Science, Angela Munslow has taught Chemistry and worked in science based industries and education. She has always been interested in art design and ceramics and it was a development of her ceramic work which led to the introduction of figures and then to her desire to do figurative sculpture. In 1990 she undertook a two year study course of figurative sculpture at the Sir Henry Doulton School of Sculpture. This video is a detailed documentary record of a Residency by Angela Munslow at a local primary school. It shows a range of techniques and materials used by a working sculptor which can be a basis for school projects for children age 7 to 11.

The video is divided into 8 sections which can be shown independently.
